Rebar Here, Rebar There, Rebar Everywhere

Starting immediately past the border and continuing on throughout the entire peninsula, there are an unusual number of partially finished buildings with rebar sticking out the roof. It’s as if the Lord returned and took only masons. Grand entrances, major foundations and walls, and then whamo, rebar shooting off in various directions and all progress seems to have stopped overnight. Alan’s theory (and I’ve got none better) is that the Mexicans do not have to pay property taxes while the building is ‘under construction’, so they leave everything half done. Whatever the reason, I don’t even know why I mention it other than it’s different than what we’re used to.
